I've read a few. And find myself generally amused that these fanfiction authors have been paid to write what they have written. More so with blatant Mary Sues, Holmes romantic interludes and Irene's daughter showing up all over the place. Eheh.

Of the newer ones, I found The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz a decent read. More of a library check-out than a purchase sort of book though (unless you are a more Internet searching, enterprising sort of cheap bum like like I am who is willing to see what she can find free around the web when it comes down to a book she doesn't know the quality of). There was some Watson-whump to appease me.

Watson's Afghan Adventure by Kieran McMullen was sadly dissipointing for what I hoped it would be. It really didn't follow through well as a story, and despite his being the main character, it didn't portray Watson in a fashion I felt to be in line with Doyle's version. Excellent research and details about the Afghan campaign of the era though, and how the army worked at the time. If your a history buff, you might enjoy this book anyway.

For the older books, Whitechapel: The Last Stand of Sherlock Holmes by Bernard Schaffer was incredibly out of character. You could read the author's knowledge of the history of the Ripper and Whitechapel well enough, but what he did with Watson just made me want to bury my head under a rock.

Much to my surprise, I just finished reading The Titanic Tragedy by William Seil and found I enjoyed it. Again, something more of a library loaner than a keeper, but a fun read. With Watson whump :)

And tonight I stumbled onto the motherload of books lists (with links for free download, because I'm naughty *sneaks off with secret books on her Nook.) I'm looking forward to a few I read references to constantly (such as the Giant Rat of Sumatra) and a few that just looked like they had fun, amusing plots to snack through (The Peerless Peer.) And others just frighten me, but I'll give it a go (Sherlock Holmes and the Zombie Problem. Really? *Snorts*)

I just may die of laughter by the end of the weekend. Very possibly so.

Or, "sporadic," if you prefer. Even if you don't. It really labels my posting tendencies.

I'm still here. Slogging through life, and work, and killing weekend(s) with joining the Beta on Guild Wars 2. Awesome MMORPG, I really can't wait for full release of this game. Its fun to play, easy to stick to the plot or side track yourself as you please, and has some of the most outstanding artwork I've seen to date. Gamers out there, I do recommend it!

Contemplating (and thus researching) those social bookmarking websites. For those times when I'm looking for that story, or that picture, that I viewed and loved last year and can't find it now to save my life. Or for when people ask for my rec's. Anyone use any of these or have any opinions on the matter?

Also, my muse. I think he developed Alzheimer's and wandered off into the woods around my house. He'll eventually come home. I'm fairly certain...

Oh Dr. Watson...
I'm out for blood today -- Watson's blood! I really have this whump story I want to write, but then this cartoony thing happened. And no, I didn't intend for it to be a reference to The Three Garridebs. I do want blood though.

Anyone want to write a fic for me? Bloody Watson? (I'll take John, if the BBC version is more your thing.) Hurt comfort would be fine. Oh well, nothing would be fine too. We can just be amused by the bloody mess I've made of Holmes and Watson here if that works for everyone :)

Enjoy?

Smiling BBC John
Horsey Sherlock and John

“You just need to look at the talon marks on the chicken’s right wing to realize exactly what… John are you even listening to me?”

*John bangs muzzle repeatedly into the sand*

^ This. This is seriously a reason why I shouldn't be left to my own imagination for any amount of time. BBC Sherlock horses?

Lol, wut?

Oh screw it. No regrets!

I should really go back to safer ground, like writing...

BBC John

Title: Sorrows Know How to Swim
Author: Azuhra
Fandom: BBC-verse Sherlock
Word count: 2750
Rating: PG
Characters: John, Harry, and Sherlock
Pairing(s): None. This is strictly a friendship (and family?) fic :)

Warnings: Spoiler alert for 'A Scandal in Belgravia.' They are NOT major plot point spoilers, and made in passing, but they do exist. If you do not want to be spoiled in any way, do not read this fic until after you've seen the episode. If you don't mind discreet non-plot-driven spoilers, go right ahead.

Disclaimer: Seriously not mine. I love what the authors of BBC's Sherlock have done with this show, and write fan fiction as an act of admiration, not for false claims on ownership.

Summary: John spends new year's morning tending to his sister and Sherlock proves to be surprisingly understanding on the matter. As far as Sherlock can be, at any rate.

Episode tag to 'A Scandal in Belgravia.” That episode had some small references to the Holidays – I took one of those and went for a run with it. Ties into both the episode and John's blog. The story can be read without having seen the episode if you don't mind minor spoilers.

Here is hoping everyone had a wonderful set of holidays no matter which you choose to celebrate or not.

And a wonderful and happy new year to anyone who chooses to read this; we all deserve that feeling of a chance at a fresh start. Time to enjoy it.

Cheers!

Have you ever had big plans (or even little plans) just to have life come up and snatch them away from you? Yes, of course you have, we all have. Its like one of those feathery little cat-teaser things. You taunt the cat, 'You want it, you know you do!' and then promptly don't let them have it.

Damnit, I want the cat-teaser feather to keep!

Some days I should not be left to my own devices. Like today, when by all rights I should be cleaning the house while hubby-mine is at work. But noooooo, God no. Instead I'm rereading fanfic I've already read several times before while alternating looking for new fanfic between chapters. Because, yes, I read more than one story at a time. I have a short attention span, what can I say? And when the reading takes too much effort, I'm over trolling deviantArt.

So, short attention span and all, I MUST be looking into multiple fandoms with all of this not-doing-housework goings on? Nope. Damned Sherlock Holmes obsession still has me in its thrall and the closest I get to multiple fandoms is reading fics from ACD-verse and BBC-verse at the same time. All the fan art I'm trolling for lately has been BBC though. Because of the pR0n.

Damnit.

I won't write the pR0n, I won't even write the innocent romance between John/Watson and Sherlock/Holmes, but like a guilty little fetish I will occasionally read it and I find I troll for the art. I just... Oh, I give up on myself as a lost cause and go darting after all the crackish stuff the Sherlock fandom inspires like the shadow-lurking fan girl I am.

But you know, ACD-verse inspired some cracktastic things first! Just ran across this comedy spoof of an – erm --- emotional Holmes and a targeted Watson >.<  Sherlock Holmes's Mood Swings

And then this damn comic made me die a thousand deaths today for BBC's Sherlock: Likesay, M-Preg?

I need a life. But until that happens, I hope I find more inspiration for writing my own stories. Or just lounge like a lizard and read and troll like I'm doing anyway...
